Vintage Joker Action Figure by Mego 1974-1982
The Joker, Clown Prince of Crime and arch enemy of Batman and Robin. Mego may have made some poor choices for villains to produce, but when producing villains for The Dynamic Duo, Mego made got it right with this one.
The Joker was produced as part of an extension of Mego's World's Greatest Super Heroes line, The Super-Foes. The group of Super-Foes also included The Riddler, Penguin, and Mr. Mxyzptlk. Catwoman, who was put under The Super-Gals banner, and The Lizard and Green Goblin all should have came under The Super-Foes banner in my opinion, but for some reason were kept separate. Probably because The Lizard and Green Goblin are Marvel characters and the others DC characters. Catwoman was just put in as one of the girls with Batgirl, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman.
Probably of all the Super-Foes, Joker is the fan favorite. Mego sold tons of these including a fist fighting version and is relatively easy to find. The figure generally appeared in many Mego toy commercials advertising other Batman toys and even had his own Jokermobile.
Whether you are a Batman, vintage toy, action figure, or Mego collector, Mego's Joker action figure definitely belongs in your collection. No laughing matter. No joke. Ugh! you know what I mean.
