No. No. That's Not True! That's Impossible!
Eric Stettmeier, my toy collecting buddy and author of Toyriffic, generally refers to my beloved Mego figures as "Dollies". I've always taken that reference with a grain of salt, as I've always known in my heart that they are action figures. I have looked at boxes like these hundreds of times, but it finally hit me like a ton of bricks that Eric was right. Mego's packages do refer to them as "Doll Figures." This would normally make me feel like Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back, but this obviously proves that Mego never proof read their packaging and must have been a misprint.
About the author: John Sholtz is an avid toy collector and the interim editor of the Batcave Toy Room due to the abrupt death of Bruce Wayne. Learn more about him here and connect with him on Twitter at, Facebook, Google+ and Linkedin.

Hahaha I WIN!
ReplyDeleteWell, it does say "Doll Figures," not "Dollies." I'll meet you half way.:-p
DeleteHey- I love my dollies & always include them among my favorite things! ;D
DeleteHalf way up the pink aisle, no doubt!
DeleteMe too Colin! I love my Mego Action Figures.
DeleteEric - Pink?! Pink is for girls. Hey, wait a minute...
DeleteIt's ok John i have a few "dollies" myself and i know that Eric secretly is a "dolly" fan too so don't let him fool you lol.
ReplyDeleteAh, Ha. I knew he was a closet dolly lover. ;-)
Deleteonce again the D-word raises its ugly head!
ReplyDeleteDebs - I am afraid it is a debate that will never end.
DeleteI notice Reis is glaringly absent from the convo. He's probably at home buried in his dollies, rocking back and forth telling them they are still 'action figures' in his eyes.
ReplyDeleteAnd then offering them some tea.
That's hillarious! Sorry Reis.
