FIGURES TOY COMPANY Begins Pre-Sale of 8 inch Mego Batman Action Figures
Just a day after we shared Figures Toy Co.'s announcement of the release of their reproduction exact replica Mego Batman action figures they have begun pre-selling these awesome retro toys.
The 8 inch Mego replicas are expecting to be available in August 2013 and are pre-selling now for $24.99 each or $99 for a set of four, which includes Batman, Robin, The Joker, and The Riddler. Best of all, your credit card will not be charged until the figures ship.
Later waves are to include all the Batman related characters that Mego produced during the World's Greatest Super Heroes ten year run, which will include the removable cowl and mask Batman and Robin, Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, Batgirl, Penguin, and Catwoman. There are also plans to release characters that Mego never produced previously.
Also up for pre-sale is a 8 inch Batman retro action figure carrying case for $49.99 that looks like it will hold the first wave of figures as well as the immediate future waves as well.
I am really excited about this release of action figures. However, I am afraid it will cause a great amount of fraud in the toy market. More than likely there will evil doers who try to pawn these off as originals and abscond with inexperienced collectors hard earned money. When these are released I'll do a post about the differences between these and the vintage versions.
Anyone else jumping on the pre-sale bandwagon?

This just makes me glad I don't collect Mego figures. I'm sure the figures will have some sort of mark or stamp that shows a new date, but the gloves, capes, and boots probably won't. I keep hearing the term "exact replicas" and it just makes me cringe. I would have preferred them as "similar to the ones you had as a kid!"
ReplyDeleteI agree Brian. I would have at least changed them up a bit. Maybe update the oven mitts or something.
